Big, Bold, Beautiful Brows!

Eyebrows should never be underestimated.

A perfectly groomed brow can completely change your appearance. And lately it’s all been about the big, bold and beautiful.

Unfortunately not all of us were born with AMAZING brows like Cara Delevingne and some people may have overplucked in the past.
It can be disheartening to be left with pencil thin lines above your eyes and even more so when no amount of eyebrow pencils or quick beauty tricks can undo the damage.
Unlike a bad haircut, eyebrows can be tricky and sometimes almost impossible to grow back.

Here are some helpful tips on how to grow out over-plucked brows:

Don’t touch your brows for three months

This may seem obvious, but for those who can’t stand a messy brow this is very difficult. Throw out your tweezers if you have to because you’ll never know what your brows are capable of until you stop tweezing them completely.

Gently exfoliate

If your brows are sparse due to overplucking, gently exfoliating the area can help stimulate hair growth. Use a soft toothbrush a few times a week and when I say gently, I mean it. If your skin turns red you’ve gone too far

Consult with a trained brow expert

Brow experts have a wealth of knowledge on how best to frame your face, so take advantage. They can determine your face shape and what your perfect brow shape should be for that shape.

See your professional regularly

Just as you visit your hairdresser every six to eight weeks for a trim, when growing back your brows, you should be visiting your brow expert regularly. They will be able to look at your brow regrowth and determine which areas need tidying up and which need to be left alone to continue to grow out.

Have frequent tints

Tinting your brows a shade darker than your natural hair colour will make them appear thicker and fuller. It will also allow you to better see where new growth is coming in. Use brow powders and pencils to fill in the gaps until the hair grows back. It will also make you feel more comfortable that not everyone is staring at your brows while you are growing them.

Use a growth serum

Like a conditioning treatment for your hair, a brow treatment can strengthen the hairs and assist with healthy brow growth.
See my post on Wow Brows where I talk about the benefits of 'Brow Boost'.

Application of a brow nourishing product morning and night is vital for having brows that wow.

Brush your brows

Brush your brows every day to keep them looking sleek. Brows need as much brushing as your hair. After application of your moisturiser to the face, use a brow brush or comb and brush them into place. This is also a must after the application of brow products.

Consider tattooing

New techniques in eyebrow tattooing can recreate the arch naturally and beautifully. The Feathertouch technique uses soft strokes to draw in the individual ‘hairs’ giving a more natural finish. A hypoallergenic pigment is implanted and will generally last between two to five years.

I hope this helps, it seems like a lot of effort for something as simple as eyebrows but once you get a great shape to your brows, you won't look back!!
