Moisture Burst from within with Skin Omegas+

The Skin Omegas+ supplements from Advanced Nutrition are a fantastic way of moisturising your skin from the inside out, reinforcing your topical moisturiser and serums. Containing omegas 3 and 6 essential fatty acids for healthy hydrated skin and enriched with Vitamin A for skin repair. These supplements boost your skins moisture content from the inside out, resulting in a plumped, glowing complexion and.

Omega 3 fatty acids are responsible for the health of the cell membrane. It is this membrane that influences the cells ability to hold water, having a nice, healthy barrier yields moister, softer, more subtle, and more wrinkle-free skin. Omega 3 has strong anti-inflammatory properties and may calm skin conditions such as rosacea, eczema and psoriasis. It can also help to minimize redness. Some nutritional studies have shown that omega-3 may protect against squamous cell skin cancers and decrease sunburn response.

Omega-6 has an anti-inflammatory affect on our skin, soothing irritated skin. GLA has been been used to reverse epidermal hyperproliferation, a condition when the skin cells reproduce at a faster than normal rate. This happens with skin diseases such as psoriasis and eczema. GLA is absorbed into the skin and repairs the skin barrier, resulting in the skin retaining moisture and staying flexible. Omega-6 fatty acids are also necessary for moisturizing the scalp and supporting hair health.

Just 2 capsules of Skin Omegas has the same nutrient value as 30 portions of salmon! The fish oils contained within the capsules come from the bellies of the most nutritious fish available, mackerel and salmon.

To rehydrate dry skin it is recommended to take 2 capsules per day with food. For people with chronic dryness, eczema or psoriasis up to 8 capsules can be taken daily with food.

Skin Omegas+ are available to buy at MEDISKIN now for just €36

My GloMinerals Make Up Look.

This was my make up look for last weekend.
No filters were used!!
All products are available at MEDISKIN.

As a base I used two pumps of Intraceuticals antioxidant booster, (€49)
This booster revitalises and balances dull, stressed skin with exceptionally powerful natural antioxidants sourced from the Australian Rainforest. It reduces visible puffiness and dark circles around the eye area, making it perfect for tired skin like mine after a busy week.

This was followed by 3 drops of Medik8's Hydr8 B5 hyaluronic acid serum, (€44). This lightweight and easily-absorbed hydrating gel-serum delivers skin-softening Vitamin B5 and super moisture-enhancing Hyaluronic Acid to produce rapid and significant improvements in the general condition and feel of the skin. I find using this under my make up provides my skin a flawless finish.

I then used Image Skincare's Matte moisturiser with Spf32.

Next I applied my glo Luxe liquid bright concealer, (€29.99). I use this under my eyes and either side of my nose.

Next product is my glo minerals Highlighter, (€30.50) I apply this to my cheek bones and cupids bow.

The foundation I chose for that night was glo luxe in Cafe, (€39.99) I applied this with my glo texture brush, (€44 free at the moment when you purchase any foundation).

For my eyes I used glo minerals coffee eye trio (€31). I used glo ebony cream eyeliner (€21.75) and my mascara was glo Lash Boosting Mascara, (€28.75).

My brows are filled in with my glo Brow Kit in Brown, (€48.50). The brow duo powders can also be used at €28.75.

My blusher is glo paradise, (€23.75) and I used glo sunlight bronzer, (€) to contour.

Why you should give up sugar, NOW!

Sugar, the evil of all evils when it comes to the destruction of collagen.

This is a great blog by a facialist named Jeanne Brophy.
Well worth a read.

WHY SUGAR CAN RUIN YOUR SKIN

Sugar is hidden in numerous foods but many of us still believe we don’t eat much.  In reality most of us consume up to 22 teaspoons of sugar every day.   Much of this sugar intake is hidden in foods we might see as healthy such as cereals, salad dressings, bread and seemingly good low fat snack bars.

Sugar has numerous effects on general health but also plays a major role in premature ageing of your skin. This is down to a natural process called glycation where sugar in the blood stream sticks to proteins and forms nasty new molecules called AGE’s (advanced glycation end points).  The higher your sugar intake the more AGE’s you will have.

As these AGE’s build up they start to cause significant collateral damage to surrounding tissue in particular collagen and elastin, these fibres in the deeper layers of your skin are the most vulnerable to attack.  Collagen and elastin are vital in keeping skin looking youthful and naturally create volume and bounce to the skin.  Once damaged they can become brittle and inflexible leading to premature wrinkles and lack of tone.

Sugar also deactivates your skins own anti-oxidants and protective barrier leaving us more prone to sun damage. It is also a pro-inflammatory ingredient and can lead to uneven skin tone and a generally red irritated complexion.

It’s not easy to remove sugar fully from your diet as many fruits and vegetables are also converted to sugar in our bodies.  Limiting your intake though is vital for both general health and youthful skin.

For beautiful skin, reduce the sweet stuff!

Tips for skin success

Eat as little processed food as possible.
Sugar is hidden under so many aliases on labels ifs often hard to know that its there.  These are some common disguises to avoid: Sucrose, fructose, glucose, dextrose, galactose, lactose and maltose.

Choose foods in their natural state or as close as possible.
The more ingredients on the label, the more chance added sugar is present.

Add more anti-oxidants to your diet.
Foods such as walnuts, berries, peppers and green tea will boost your skins natural protection.
Boost your skins anti-oxidant protection by using skincare ingredients such as vitamins A C & E, green tea and reservatrol.

Boost collagen production with retinol or peptides

Wear a sunscreen every day.
